Mesjid Besar is the biggest mosque in Semarang, Indonesia. I had a great time taking a lot of photos of this quite striking building when I visited.

It looks pretty nice when lit up at night. Here is the proof!

To check out the speccy views at night time, you can travel up an enormous minaret to view the surrounding Semarang city and the Mesjid Besar itself. It’s a good excuse to explore a bit of the city and take it all in when it cools down after sunset.

Normally, I wouldn’t have had any idea that this mosque had existing before turning up to Semarang. But the Loenpia Blogging Community have been showing me around their version of Semarang, which I’m sure is way better than the normal touristy one.

They’ve been fantastic guides, just like the rest of the blogging communities I’ve come across in Indonesia. I’m getting used to meeting up with tonnes of friendly, warm people every night for a superb feast of Indonesian food. My stomach has been copping a welcome pounding over the last couple of weeks! I’m sure my trousers are becoming tighter each day!
