I Like Big Butts – Buddha Style

No, this is nothing to do to with the popular song that starts off with the very memorable line that says ‘I Like Big Butts And I Cannot Lie’. Today, I’ve got a really strange travel photo from Noah who runs Somewhere or Bust.  You can follow him on Twitter and Facebook.

The photo was taken in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region of a really large Buddha statue – in more ways than one!

Now, images and statues of Buddha are numerous and quite varied around the world, ranging from the skinny Buddha to the more portly version that looks like he’s having a massive chuckle.

However, I’ve never seen a Buddha that looks quite like this..

Hey, but this Buddha is looking pretty happy!

Noah says At the front of the base, underneath the Buddha, the Vietnamese words read “Nam Mo Duong Lai Di Lac Ton Phat.” (There are all sorts of accents over/under the letters that I did not include. Focus on the words “Ton Phat.”)

If you haven’t got it, sounds something like ton of fat!

Oh well.

More Buddha Stuff

Somehow, I don’t think the locals would be selling this Buddha is My Homeboy mug..

That smiling face Buddha has an amazing back! This is my first time to see a Buddha like this. I like your angle of the shot. There are many angles a photographer can take.

I am rather annoyed after seeing this picture, As I was here in November and I failed to notice his rather large behind. I was distracted by his infectious smile instead, wishing now I had paid more attention. And will now look more closely at things on my future travels.
