Flowrider – Wave Machine on the back of a Cruise Ship!

Be a share millionaire! Tell the world!

I’m not really the cruising type – I’ve never actually been on one, but I find these large heavy metal beasts that float in the water without sinking pretty fascinating anyway.

Cruising is still going nuts around the world, and there are myriad of options and locations where cruise ships visit. But it’s not just the locations that they visit that are diverse – it’s also what’s on the actual ship as well.

Anyway, I was recently invited to come on board the rather large Royal Caribbean boat, the Voyager of the Seas to see what this massive floating hotel had to offer.

Royal Caribbean Voyager Of The Seas

In summary, it’s like a mini city! Over 300 metres long, capable of holding over 3000 people. There are truckloads of different eateries to expand your waisteline, a mini golf course (some golf jokes anyone?), an ice skating rink, pools, a casino, a theatre, and even a disco for the kids! Plus, the staff install what day it is in the elevators every morning so you don’t lose track of time!

However, the Voyager of the Seas has something that many other cruise ships don’t – a wave machine, otherwise known as a Flowrider!

That’s right, what you’d normally find in a massive water park is onboard this ship if you need to work off the billions of calories your body has racked up by eating too much food and not doing enough exercise!

Here are a few shots that I took of a few punters riding the waves!

I shot this video of Adam Wildman, who actually scored a gig promoting Royal Caribbean when someone spotted his great skills on the Flowrider.

Anyway, what will they think of next to keep the hordes of cruisers entertained? Let me know if you’ve spotted something a bit out there!
