Bunch Of Flowers – How To Keep Them Fresh!

Today I have a funny travel photo of a nice bunch of flowers that was sent in to me by Joe who runs I Want To Go There.

You can also follow him on Facebook.

Joe says ‘I have had the travel bug since 1996. First trip to Quebec City, Canada. Since then several countries in Europe, the Caribbean Islands, West Coast of the US, The Rocky Mountains, New York City, and the Beautiful Hudson Valley in New York State where I live. More stops in the Caribbean coming up this summer and Paris and Venice in 2016. As for photography, I got my first camera when I was 4 and haven’t stopped taken pictures since.’

Anyway, Joe has come up with a simple, but ingenious tip on how to keep your bunch of flowers fresh when you are travelling.

Flower markets are present all over the world, and if you’re with a significant other (or maybe you’ve just hooked up with someone), there’s nothing like buying a bunch of fresh cut flowers to impress someone.

But this leads to a dilemma – how do you keep them fresh? Not many hostels or hotels supply vases for guest use, and you’re not really doing to drag a vase around while travelling because it’s an item you don’t really need taking up too much space or weight in your luggage.

So that means it’s time to improvise!

Anyway, Joe says ‘the background to the pic is, we had dinner in Florence, Italy that evening. A girl came around selling roses.  I decided to buy my wife Jaci three roses. We got back to our B&B in San Donato in Poggio, Palazzo Malapina, and had nothing to put them in. We wanted to keep them fresh. Soooooooooo..this is what we did’.

I’m sure there are loads of nutrients in that toilet bowl that will keep these flowers growing for just a little bit longer!

Anyway, check out Joe’s site, I Want To Go There, for some great travel photography. Here is an example of his work below:

Duomo Di FirenzeJoe says ‘it’s one of my favorites. We were in Florence and I saw the Duomo looming in the air at the end of the street and thought THAT would make a perfect photo’

There you go! I’ll remember what I need to do to keep flowers fresh next time!
