April Fools Pranks and Jokes to play on Travel Bloggers

Be a share millionaire! Tell the world!

Ahh, April Fools Day. The one day of the year where everyone has permission to play a prank or joke on someone at their expense and pretty much get away with it.

Everyone seems to get in on the act, from television to radio stations to your own relatives. Personally, I think it’s a great day to have a bit of fun as long as the prank you are planning doesn’t hurt anyone and you both have a good old laugh about it

Some travel bloggers are notorious for sending out an article on April Fools Day to try and trick their readers into believing something completely shonky and untrue. For example, saying that they’ve scored a ride with Richard Branson on Virgin Galactic or something more outlandish than that, like bragging that they’re the first multi-millionaire travel blogger in the world… ;P Hopefully that’s me someday in the very near future!

April Fools Day Pranks And Jokes - Travel

But anyway, instead of trying to send out a bogus post on April Fool’s day itself to see if anyone would notice it’s a piss take, I’ve come up with a list of ideas where you can play a prank on any travel blogger that you know or have come across in your travels. This doesn’t have to be on April Fools Day – any day of the year is fine!

So here you go – some April Fools Pranks and Jokes that you can play on travel bloggers. Let me know if you decide to try these out on someone and what they’re reaction is! This is part of my mission for travel bloggers to take themselves way less seriously than they do at the moment!

The Ultimate list for playing April Fools Pranks and Jokes on Travel Bloggers on April Fool’s Day!

  1. Go up to a travel blogger and say ‘I’ve got some Free WiFi for you‘, and then when their eyes light up, reply with ‘only joking!’
  2. Find a kaput computer similar to a travel blogger’s that you know. Invite them over, place the dud computer on the table and smash it with a hammer and say ‘that should stop your blogging addiction!’
  3. When a travel blogger is trying to write a gazillion word post about something they’re passionate about, keep unplugging and re-plugging the Wi-Fi router until they give up
  4. Say to a travel blogger ‘oh my god, your site has been hacked and it’s infected my computer and I’ve lost all of my lifetime’s photos!’
  5. The next time a travel blogger flies, call up the airline company and have them registered as an ‘unaccompanied minor’ to make sure they receive a kiddie’s meal on the flight
  6. Create your own passport stamp with entry and exit dates for ‘Derka Derka Stan’, steal the travel blogger’s passport to make the entry, and see if they notice if their passport has been tampered with
  7. When you meet a travel blogger and they say they’re from the United States, ask ‘where’s that?’
  8. When you meet an Australian travel blogger, see if they prefer beer over free Wi-Fi
  9. If you are travelling with a travel blogger to another country, fill out their entry form and list ‘drug dealer’ as their occupation
  10. Photo bomb every single selfie a travel blogger takes next to a famous world landmark
  11. Gift wrap an expired free Wi-Fi voucher and say ‘this is on me!’
  12. Send an email via the travel blogger’s contact form to say that you’re a travel company that’s willing to pay them a million dollars for a year’s worth of advertising. When they reply back asking for more information, say ‘I meant one million Zimbabwe dollars’ (which was worth only a few cents before they were discontinued)
  13. If you actually do meet the travel blogger, give them a one million Zimbabwe dollar note
  14. Get hold of a English speaker’s smart phone and change the default language to Chinese
  15. Steal a travel blogger’s laptop, take off all the letters and rearrange them back onto the keyboard in random order
  16. Send a travel blogger an SMS every minute with the same message -‘ your website is down!’
  17. Before a travel blogger goes on a big round the world trip, fill up their mp3 player with music they completely detest
  18. Fill up a travel blogger’s backpack to the brim with styrofoam balls just before they need to pack and head off somewhere. Bonus points if you leave it in their dorm bed
  19. Leave a portable speaker under the dorm bed of a travel blogger and set an alarm for 6am after he has had a big night out on the booze
  20. Go up to a travel blogger and say ‘wow, you actually do look like your profile photo unlike the rest of them!’

We tried number 16 followed by number 4 on our favourite travel blogger and it seems to have worked but he claims that he was “riding us all the way”. Not sure if he’s trying to save face after being pranked by his own pranks. Either way we enjoyed doing it as much as we enjoy reading our favourite travel blog. Keep up the great work mate 😉
