I use Lonely Planet Guide Books all the time! I’ve been using them for over 20 years and I’m a bit old fashioned when it comes to travel guide books – I like something tangible that I can hold in my hands. I know that the battery will never go dead!
You’d probably know they were founded by Tony and Maureen Wheeler – and I was lucky enough to interview them on my silly site!
Overall, I’ve found that my Lonely Planet Guide Books have been pretty reliable, up to date, and are a good introduction to a place that you’re going to. But you should always dig deeper than the guide book and have some experiences that aren’t mentioned in there.
Lonely Planet have guidebooks for every continent, and for pretty much most countries in one way or another.

I’ve also interviewed Asha Gill who was a presenter on Lonely Planet Six Degrees. Anyway, I’m always excited when I get hold of one of their guidebooks and start planning my trip. The things I’ll do and the things I’ll see.
