Travel For Free – A How To Podcast on Blogcast FM

Travel for Free – via Press Trips

I’ve been very lucky since I’ve started The Travel Tart – I’ve been invited on a number of international Press Trips, such as Fiji, Wales and South Africa where I’ve scored some Travel For Free.

In a couple of these cases, I was the first ever Travel Blogger to be invited by the respective Tourist Commissions.

I’m often asked how I’ve come up with these opportunities, so what I’ve done is condensed some of these tips into a Podcast – on Blogcast FM, which is a great Podcast about all things related to blogging.

Travel For Free – some Practical Tips

Srini from Blogcast FM was foolish enough to want to interview me for his really great Podcast which provides some useful blogging tips on a wide range of subjects.

I’ve previously wrote about how to Travel For Free on Problogger (How Your Blog Can Score You Free Travel) and in much greater detail on Travel Writer’s Exchange.

Obviously, Travel Press Trips is an entirely different form of travel compared to travelling independently (and not something I’d like to do perpetually), but I would say I’ve received thousands of dollars worth of experiences by going on these trips, which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed.

The key here is to create a win:win situation – you win because you get sent on some awesome experiences that cost you nothing, and in return providing some blog posts about it to ensure that long term internet traffic provides your host exposure with an indefinite shelf life.

The big difference is that Press Trips involve a number of scheduled experiences that occur within a condensed time frame where everything is organised for you.

And it’s experiences that I normally wouldn’t do, such as Making Paper from Sheep Poo, Bungee Swings, Jet Ski Safaris and Deep Sea Fishing.

So anyway, head over to Blogcast FM to hear me talk crap about Press Trips for about 40 minutes, and you might score some tips on how to Travel For Free!
