From Surf Photography to Blog To Business!
After pulling up a bit sore in the ribs from hopelessly trying to surf, Destination NSW sent me to the Saltmotion Gallery in Manly to meet Joel and Sherrie. Their story was one of interest to me – Joel started up a blog where he hosted some of his Surf Photography pictures, which ranged from surf to nature photography, and out of that, he’s manage to start a business such as a gallery, and even overseas trips.
Lucky bugger! Well, I’m guessing he actively wanted to go after something he truly loved doing, so good on him!
Hmm, I might have a crack at that as well! But I can’t imagine that the market for going to places that tourists avoid like the plague is going to be that big. Anyway, he’s managed to create a business out of something he loves doing, which prove the adage that ‘if you are working doing something that you love doing, you’ll never work a day in your lfe!’
I checked out some of his photos, which you can see on his website. It’s also worth popping into the gallery if you ever head over to the Saltmotion Gallery
Here are some examples of Joel’s work:
Surf Photography Interview
Here is my interview with Joel and Sherrie. Also, check out the bit where I ask him the hairiest moment on the job has been for him – which is definitely a brown underpants moment. Involving a large snapping handbag! (i.e. a crocodile).

Cool, great interview. Love the pics too!
It’s also great that he’s turned his passion into a business!
