Richard Branson is known as one of the most eccentric and flamboyant entrepreneurs in recent times. He’s made the Virgin brand one of the most recognised throughout the world, and over a variety of businesses (such as airlines) that seem to have no relevance to each other – just because he likes annoying the big end of town.
Richard Branson also likes taking on a challenge – and this has included thinking of some Extreme Travel scenarios which makes me wonder if his entire collection of underwear consists of a wide variety of brown.
Richard Branson = Crazy Travel!
He’s now well over 60 (and he’d probably acknowledge that he’s lucky to have made it this far), but he’s backed himself to undertake a number of Extreme Travel events over the years, even if he’s slowed down a bit recently.
There is a method to his madness, but this seems to be the Richard Branson form of travel:
Step 1 – Think of a crazy, life-threatening hair-brained scheme that no one has done before, or that others are too shitscared to do. This has included – crossing the Atlantic Ocean via speedboat, ballooning across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, and a round the world balloon trip.
Step 2 – Announce the Extreme Travel event via a massive press conference with lots of attractive women surrounding him. Or maybe dress up as one..and speak a bit of British Slang.
Step 3 – Spend months, or even years planning the Extreme Travel event.
Step 4 – Go out and just do it, almost killing oneself in the process
Step 5 – Tell all his naysayers ‘Screw You, I did it!’
You know what? I say good on him. Richard Branson has had a crack at what he loves doing, and while he’s had some failures, he’s also had some spectacular successes!
