It’s funny sign time again!
I like checking out overseas interpretations of signs that you might see at home – just to see what the underlying culture is about!
You know, sometimes they don’t translate very well into English, such as the Squat Toilet Sign and the Fook Yew Hotel.
Both of those signs are from Malaysia – and I have another one from one of my mates who was over there on a trip which would make you think twice about disobeying the sign!
This sign is about not entering someone’s private property.
The Funny Private Property Sign – Warning, Trespassers Will Be ‘Prosecuted’!
Well, that’s what ‘Amaran – Kawasan larangan penceroboh akan didkaw means in Malay.
But have a look at the accompanying graphic!
Gold!
My friend says ‘check out this funny sign I spotted recently in Malaysia. Even if you can’t read the text, I think everybody will understand the graphics!’
At home, you might ignore a private property sign, but there’s no way in the world I’m ever going to tempt fate with this one!
I’ll give that ‘adventure’ a swerve! 🙂
I love that sign. I may put one up at my house.
Scary if you need to do that!
I am from Malaysia with Malay as my native language, and as a little kid for the longest time i thought dakwa (to prosecute) meant “to shoot” and hence didakwa = be shot at (let’s not get into how the verb turns passive, unless you really want to lol)
I think we all got the message!
