Here is a Funny Road Sign that is unbelievable but true, from Namibia in south western Africa! Namibia is one of the driest places on the planet. It is an amazing country to visit, as the variety of dry and desert landscapes is quite astounding. It’s worth travelling to some of the remotest places on the planet to check out the sites.
I’ve even come across the best Apple Strudel in the world at a place called Solitaire, which has a population just reaching into double digits! This is a legacy of the previous German colonial legacy, which also extends to the rather impressive tasting beer – where I least expected it!
Anyway, back to the sine and the desert environment. Even the highways go through these arid landscapes, and often they are constructed on endless hectares of impressive nothing – that is, a dry and flat landscape of only sand – and nothing else for hundreds of miles.
However, check out the context of this sign in relation to the surrounding landscape! It pretty much states the obvious, or as I always say, somethings that’s obvious as dog’s testicles!
Funny Road Sign of The Week!
The ‘Sand’ sign is obviously most stating the obvious, based on it’s location – in the middle of the desert. Less subtle than the roadside quiz signs in Australia.
Just in case you were on the look out for a bit of sandy stuff!
You’ll find heaps of these Road Signs along the almost deserted highways of Namibia, in south western Africa.
Can you spot the Sand near the Road Sign?

hahahaha, funny indeed! *laughing*
Yeah I know – pretty sill!
Cool. At least they made an effort to tell the people passing on that road, that sand is present on their side.
I lost count of the number of times my husband and I drove past this sign when we lived in Namibia and we eventually took it for granted. Thanks for showing it to me again through fresh eyes and reviving it!
