It’s Chinglish Time again – this is where other languages – in this case, Chinese, are translated into English and it doesn’t quite make sense!
Today it’s the funny Chinese toilet sign!
Some previous nuggets of gold that have previously appeared on The Travel Tart include the funny Shanghai Restaurant Menu and the bizarre hostel sign.
Today, I’ve got one that was sent to me from Rod and Janette from Christchurch in New Zealand after they saw me appear in an online article in a rather large-ish media site!
Thanks for sending it through, I’m always up for sending out more weird stuff to clog up the internet even more!
They spotted this toilet sign one of their money trips to China.
Here it is:
The Funny Chinese Toilet Sign – WTF?
“No Occupation While Stabilizing?”
What the hell does that mean?
I’m not exactly sure ‘Stabilizing’ in this sense means!
Don’t take a crap after an earthquake?
Anyway, I’m sure I’d do a fairly bad job if I had to translate something from English into Chinese.
This wouldn’t be a funny Chinese sign at all – I’d probably come up with something that says ‘Don’t sit on the toilet whilst Mr Hankey says Howdy Ho’ or even worse!
Too hard for me!
Anyway, if you’ve got some funny stuff like this, please contact me and sent it through!
Now I feel stable…whilst reading this on the toilet…
Oh crap..sorry… 🙂
Bad translation. Should read: ‘No usage during train stops’
Makes sense now!
