Eek! Here’s one of those signs and slogans that don’t quite translate very well into English and it sounds rather amusing – and it usually happens where English isn’t the official language!
This little nugget of gold was a Funny Billboard Sign spotted by my sister near Bangkok Airport in Thailand when she was in her mode of transport and spotted this in the corner of her eye. And when she sent through to me, it definitely grabbed my attention!
And just as a side note to try and fill a bit more space, the full name for Bangkok is Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit. But that’s way too long for any sign! Sounds like a sign writers dream to me!

Sea Min Drink! Hmm, now that’s a Funny Billboard Sign!
Oops. Sounds like the Sea Min Drink is something you don’t really want to swallow!
Sounds… ahem, a bit dodgy, but from the marketing speak, I would guess that this drink includes minerals from the sea that apparently makes you healthy when you ingest it judging by the glamourous looking lady who is spruiking the product!.
Obviously the saying in Thai doesn’t mean anything suggestive, but when the English version came about (so to speak…boom boom…) it created something suggestive sounding like Schitt Lemonade, Kick A Poo Juice and yes, Sea Men Cool Drinks!
So anyway, you’ll probably come across the Sea Min Drink and this funny billboard sign if you’re going through one of the world’s busiest airports and hitching a ride down town. It’s probably going to be hot and humid, so you may reach for one of these some time!
