Funny Bar Signs – Billy’s Bar from Zambia

Today I’ve got a post about Funny Bar Signs from Sarah Carroll, which she spotted in when cruising around Zambia. Sarah has previously sent me the Best Hardware Store in the world and I interviewed her about ethical volunteering around the world.

She loves travelling around Africa and so do I – and that’s mainly because of the weird, wonderful, and downright non-understandable signs that are floating around the place. Well, that’s apart from mixing with cool locals and checking out the wildlife!

This one is way more bizarre than some of the other funny bar signs I’ve seen in my travels such the George Bush Bar which I spotted near Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and is a bit more upmarket than the Gin and Tonic Bar in Namibia where I managed to avoid sitting on a toilet for a month from drinking warm fermented sorghum beer straight from the rubbish bin.

Anyway, check this out! Totally weird and I don’t understand it at all!

Funny Bar Signs – Billy’s Bar!

I’m guessing that the completely bizarre tagline of ‘To Your Statisfaction We Archive’  should actually read ‘Your Satisfaction we Achieve’. Maybe..

After thinking this was another case of a translation gone wrong, I then thought this sign might have been drawn up by a bored employee in the Zambian Bureau of Statistics who thought that a dry joke about collecting demographic information about the Zambian population might go down well at Billy’s Bar. Maybe this place is across the road from the Statistics department!

Ironically, I’ve made the census in neighbouring Zimbabwe on a train from Victoria Falls to Bulawayo, so you just never know!

This is just plain weird, but funny! There are lots of these pieces of gold from Africa (see my post about funny travel photos from Africa) where the signs are funny, weird, or just plain WTF.

But that’s what I like about it! You won’t find them anywhere else!
