Filming Techniques – The Kiddie’s Outdoor Pool + Win a Trip to Mexico

Today I’ve got a funny travel photo from Dennis who runs Paradise Hunter. This is a television program where a presenter (often selected after an online competition) travels around the place to find their piece of paradise to live. However, producing such a program often requires a number of unique and unusual Filming Techniques to make sure ‘that shot’ is taken and makes the cut!

The program was shooting a scene neat Akumal, in Mexico when some pretty cool improvisation had to occur to make sure the surroundings were captured on film.

Anyway, check out this photo below – what’s unusual about it?

Filming Techniques - Kiddies Oudtoor Pool

The Filming Techniques Explanation!

Dennis says ‘The Filming in Cenote picture is how we solved the problem of filming in an underground cavern that was filled with 12 feet of water. We bought a dingy, but the store only had one… so we also bought a kiddie pool and used that as well. It worked great, but it was pretty funny seeing this kiddie pool get dropped from the jungle floor above into the cavern. The Cenote is about 20 minutes into the jungle, from Akumal, and the caretaker has a family there with kids. We gave the pool to the kids after the shoot, and they were really excited by it. It’s amazing the smiles $15 can bring.’

I’ve been involved in a couple of shoots, and sometimes, the things that don’t make the camera and the final product are way funnier than what does. You’ll be surprised at some of the filming techniques that include the tips and tricks cameramen use to get ‘that shot!’.

Cool, that’s a win win situation in my books! Dennis gets to score the shot, and some kids have an awesome water play thing for years to come until the plastic perishes!

Anyway, that’s a short introduction to a new promotion that Dennis has going in regards to Paradise Hunter – and that’s to Win a Vacation to Mexico.
