If you’re looking for some alternative backpackers hostels to crash in on any round the world trip that are a little bit unusual, Kadirs is one of those hostels that are hard to forget.
Kadir’s is located at the small Mediterranean town of Olympos, in Turkey. It’s been there for ages (for a very good reason!) and it’s a backpacking institution on the Turkey backpacking trail – one of my favourite places on the planet.
Kadir’s is a bit different because all of their ‘dorms’ are tree houses! You can have bunk beds in there, or if you’re after something more private, your own room.
Backpackers Hostels – The Tree House Version!
Here you go! Check it out!
It’s been a while since I’ve been there, but I found this place essentially a great location to bludge around for a few days because there’s nothing there except for a couple of other hostels there and a walk through overgrown Roman Ruins to reach a pebbled beach.
There is a bit of a drinking culture there – but you can choose to participate/not participate in getting drunk and falling down. The whole aim of staying here is to chill out and go for the occasional swim in the turquoise Mediterranean Sea. But for me, I like downing a few icy cold Efes Pilsen beers at the end of a hot day there.
I must admit, you can’t help but feel like you’re in your childhood again within the menagerie of tree houses. But because many of these tree houses are actually constructed around a tree, sometimes there is a tree trunk romantically intersecting your beds!
So if you’re sick of the same old smelly dorm rooms that seem to be the same like all of the other places you’ve ever stayed in, Kadir’s is a welcome change. Just make sure you’re not that drunk that you forget to climb up to your dorm in the tree tops!
You just never know who is going to post your drunken snap online!

Don’t drink and.. climb?
Looks like a fun place to stay for a few nights 🙂
Definitely! Really enjoyed it there!
This looks awesome! I’m off to Turkey next month, I think you’ve just given me a great idea! 🙂 Any more crazy places like this you’ve written about?
We have seen this place and it looked great. Although we are not heavy drinkers so preferred to stay in the neighboring resort. Still a unique novelty though
Loved it here!
looks a bit run-down to me!
