Here’s another great photo that definitely sits in the ‘Genuine Imitation’ Files! Abibas!
This is where you might buy some sort of ‘brand clothing’ (or some other product) that is a complete knock off of a famous multi national brand so that it brings up ‘familiarity’ for the prospective buyer – but it’s just different enough to avoid copyright infringements – sometimes!
You know, places like the Afghan version of KFC!
Anyway, I received this funny travel photo from Brett Minor, who’s been living in Beijing, China for the last few years. Check out his blog at The Transformed Nonconformist. He’s also sent me the following pieces of Chinese gold:
- Translation Fails
- Grim Casserole
- The Funny Dental Hospital sign
- How To Do The Laundry Instructions
- Bad Beauty Salon Spelling
- The Don’t Forget Me Jacket
- Urine Problems that really take the piss
- The dubious Recycling Bin, and
- The Mariboro Hat!
Can you tell which famous sporting brand this is a knock off from? No prizes for guessing this one!
Abibas! You only need to change one letter…
Yay, this is a bit like hanging out with your cousin when it comes to purchasing a new line of sporting gear – you know, it’s the same, but different!
Not really in this case! It just looks like the d’s have been swapped around to make b’s!
Ahh, if we didn’t have China, no one in the world would have any clothes since this massive country in terms of both size and population is definitely the world’s biggest factory, especially when it comes to textiles.
And hey, who’s going to notice a slight brand infringement at all… 🙂
I can’t wait to see everyone in the world wearing abibas gear! Sounds like an untapped market to me!
Otherwise, if you want some real adidas stuff…
The copyright infringements are probably the most common ones I see here.
There are Disney characters splattered on everything without permission.
Gold! Love it!
