Today I’ve got a guest post from Rohit who runs Trans India Travels. It’s about some of the strange places to visit in India – he’s sent me stuff about and unusual Indian customs and weird Indian food which left me wanting to try them out!

Strange Places to Visit in India!

In the world of secrets and culture, India holds a significant place. India is habitat to some of the unique places in the world. Because of the rich cultural and historical heritage, today we can see several wonders happening just in front of our eyes.

Karni Mata Mandir, Rajasthan

You will find countless temples across the divine land of incredible India but this temple is a bit unique and strange. One of the major attractions of Rajasthan, this temple is called the temple of rats; the incredible temple is situated in the city of Deshnoke. The temple is home to 20,000 well-mannered and holy rats. The rats residing in the vicinity of the temple just eat Mandir’s Prasad for their survival. This unique quality has made Karni Mata Mandir special and it also attracts huge crowd throughout the year. People come here to take blessings and see the unity amidst the rats.

Jatinga, Assam

Jatinga is a pretty strange place in this region of Assam. The city is known for a heavy number of suicides of Birds in the whole India. Every evening after the sunset, the birds crush them to death and bang themselves on the walls of the building in high numbers.

This phenomenon is strange as we do not get to see such a thing across the globe. The high suicide attempts by the birds have attracted eyes of scientists and researchers.

Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan

Bhangarh Fort is the other name of terror in Rajasthan. The Bhangarh Fort is located in Alwar region of the majestic Rajasthan. You know something is fishy when you see the sign board of Archaeological survey of India. That’s right; Bhangarh Fort has been credited as the most haunted place in the whole India. The Fort is an ancient and massive place with some brutal and untold stories.

The entry to the fort is prohibited after the sunset by the ASI. Bhangarh Fort attracts huge visitations by the historians and people seeking adventure. Many strange incidents have happened amidst the walls of this haunted place. Villagers also believe that there is a hidden haunted market across the walls of the fort which is invisible to the living beings.

Grand Wall of Kumbhalgarh Fort, Rajasthan

One of the major attractions of Kumbhalgarh, this fort has a massive long wall guarding the vicinity of the area. The wall was constructed back in the 15th century. The main objective of the construction was to safeguard the parameter of the city and to tackle the outside intruders and western influence. The construction of such a massive and long wall was a miracle in the 15th century.

The Kumbhalgarh Fort wall resembles that of Great Wall of China, but it’s not as big like it. Kumbhalgarh Fort holds a major part in the majestic charm of royal Rajasthan. The wall accounted for safety and survival of the kingdom of Kumbhalgarh back then, several western powers were able to penetrate and breach the walls but still, there is no place like the grand and vicious Kumbhalgarh Fort in India.

Kolkata, West Bengal

One of the unique places to visit in Kolkata is the great Banyan tree. The tree is pretty famous and ancient. The tree was planted for about 220 years ago, and even now the Banyan tree is standing tall and strong. The tree has been credited with the oldest tree in the India. The tree is situated in the heart of the Kolkata in Howrah. The tree has faced various emergency situations like cyclones and fungal attack on some portions. The area in which the tree has been expanded is massive; it is more like a dense forest. The tree has around 3300 huge roots spreading across the region on the ground.

Kodinhi Village, Kerala

The village is profoundly famous for the exquisite numbers of twins in the region. In a country of over a billion people, it is tough to find the twins, but Kodinhi Village seems like a habitat to all the twins in the India.

The village features over 350 pairs of twins in the particular region which is highest in the world. Almost every other family has this genetically gifted twin property. Kodinhi Village is unique and staggering; the village also attracts tourists to Kerala and researchers throughout the year.
